Executive Summary

All firms want the advantages from effective scheduling but few are ready to spend money to have it. If scheduling isn\\\'t effective in your shop there are two interpretations that could be made and actions that logically follow. One explanation is that the leader is the problem and must go. Replace the leader then hire one who you think will succeed. Many companies take this course of action since they don\\\'t want to deal with their inadequate business systems. The other way to see this is to ask the mechanics what has caused a delay in the business system. In some cases the stop is a gap in the business system or the business system is just bad and should be looked at.
