WasteThe single greatest barrier to identifying waste is called the normalization of deviance. This is an elaborate way of saying that if you see a stack of junk long enough, you’ll eventually stop noticing it. The stack starts to appear normal. This pattern can become a very bad thing for PM inspection because people stop seeing deterioration and lean maintenance efforts as people stop recognizing waste. You have to change the normal ways of noticing. One good way is to visit other plants, even in different fields. Then, you\\\'ll be blown away as to how easy it is to identify other organization\\\'s waste. Other ways are to go on vacation, take a seminar or to read a book.
